Air Jordan V "Raging Bull" Pack Hits Toronto

Many of Toronto's Air Jordan aficionados have been looking forward to this Saturday, for it marks the release of the Nike Air Jordan Retro V "Toro Bravo" or Raging Bull pack.

The pack, consisting of a suede red and a 3M black version of the beloved Jordan V sneaker, is being hailed as the successor to 2006's highly sought after Air Jordan DMP release. The shoe is inspired by a special and heralded species of bull which is bred for the infamous annual Running of the Bulls event in Pamplona, Spain. The black version is inspired by “both the Toro Bravo, known for its aggressiveness, strength, vigor and intelligence, and Michael Jordan’s basketball career, which exemplified these qualities and more.” On the other hand, the red version “represents the passion, inspired by Michael Jordan’s drive for the game with its color taken from the red bandannas runners in Pamplona wear.” A special custom-box set featuring the menacing eyes of a red-eye’d pull peering through a crate keeps in line with the shoe’s concept at hand.

The pack will be available at the usual drops such as The Vault, Livestock, and Goodfoot Richmond. Quantities will be extremely limited and come with a $409.95 (GDFT) price tag.

Weekly Roundup 1 *Update III*

Weekly Roundup will be a new Friday feature on T.Dotty that will gather any product drops that occurred during the past week as well as give a heads up to any drops occurring on the weekend. This weekly feature will help save you and me time.

As rare as it is, if there is a major, highly anticipated drop during the week, its posting will not be delayed until the Friday, but will be posted as soon as it comes to my attention. This is to make sure no one misses out on anything. For everything else, it's Friday. If your looking for a specific item that you just need to have as soon as it goes on sale and can't wait for word of it in the roundup, I have compiled the list of shops for a reason. Give 'em a call, they'll be happy to help.

The roundup may be updated at anytime from its posting on Friday to late Saturday and the title will reflect any changes made. If a certain product is not in the roundup, keep an eye out for the following week. Any more questions hit me up via email or comment. Also, I appreciate any submissions from readers. If I missed anything, or you'd like something posted on the blog, email me and I'll see what I can do. Only if it pertains to Toronto/GTA only.

Goodfoot will be releasing a grip of Nikes on Saturday, the 14th. Expected to drop is the Air Max 90 Current "Moire", Air Force 2 "Gucci", Blazer Vintage in blue and red colourways, and Jordan 1 Hi "Sapphire" (Richmond only).

Nomad has announced that they have received Supreme's newest lineup. The pieces will be going on sale on Saturday.

Livestock will have a quartet of Jordans on Saturday. Livestock, on Thursday, released BBC full zips, jackets, and tees. G-Shocks, pieces of Play Cloths season 2, Oakley Frogskins, Keep shoes, Reigning Champ spring '09, MHI pieces, and Penfield jackets also rounded out the Thursday LS releases.

Stolenriches has also received a decent amount of gear. Jordan 3/20 Countdown Pack, Nike AM90s, Air Max 1 Supreme QKs, Air Force 1 DJ Clark Kent and All-Star Supremes plus Reebok Geo Floral freestyle pack and Michael Chang IIs constitute the footwear releases, with Kid Robot Spring '09 pieces for those looking for some new tees or shirts.

North Trooper has received a run of Air Max Classic '95 Neons from sizes 8.5 to 11.

C-apsule
provides us with a Rogue Status & DTA delivery, the Kikstyo March releases, Quolomo x Yone Exhibition limited edition tees, Sixpack France Spring '09 collection, some fresh New Balance Limited Edition M850s, and some more Air Jordan 1 Phat Low Cements.

Toronto's Own: Image Spark

ImageSpark is a designer's holy grail. This cloud application allows a person to upload any image, creating a depository of inspiration.

Why am I posting about Image Spark, when T.Dotty is about streetwear?
Well, the streetwear industry was constructed by extremely creative individuals and a large majority of those who partake in our niche are interested in, study, or have a career in the creative fields. I, myself, am studying architecture and can see myself making great use of Image Spark, whether it be finding inspiration to start a project, or further organizing and refining my ideas via Image Spark's "MoodBoard". It will become a tool of tremendous value to many.

Another reason why I am posting about Image Spark is because the firm Teehan+Lax who developed it are based in Toronto, in an area which should be quite familiar to many of you - Richmond and Spadina. Many would argue that this area is the city's creative center. The rich retail environment of Queen St. West and the cultural diversity present amalgamate to create a playground for creativity to run rampant. The perfect storm, that undoubtedly helped fuel the conception of Image Spark.

The best part of Image Spark (besides its free registration) is that one can see others images, and even add them to their own personal collection. To get the kind of visual knowledge Image Spark gives access to, one would need to scour the endless design magazines, websites and forums. Even then, only so much can be saved or retained. With Image Spark, it is all right there. Be inspired.

St. Clair Goodfoot In Trouble?

Times have become tougher for a lot of Canadians (thanks in part to the enormous amount of FDI in the country), and the current economic slump has left no industry untouched.

However, for us in streetwear, this is both a blessing and a curse. The blessing comes in the form of better prices and the sloughing off of the weaker, uninteresting "me too" brands. The curse is most felt by the boutiques in our beautiful city. Slow sales, and lower prices on their goods means less profit. Sure, some shops may be better suited to weather out the storm, but even relative giants like Goodfoot are feeling the pinch.

For the months of January, Febuary and March, Goodfoot will be turning its lackluster St. Clair shop into a sales outlet, where they will offload the goods that haven't been selling at their other two locations. This is obviously good news for us, as we get to pick up some new gear for cheap.

In light of this however, one cannot help but wonder about the future of the St. Clair location. It was opened just last summer, but from its inception it has not been well received by many of the long time Goodfoot supporters. Numerous complaints have circled around the weird location and the sub-par store interior - when compared to the Richmond and Yorkville locations. Other complaints focused on the lack of product available - again, compared to the other locations.

In these times, where even large corporations are hurting, businesses cannot simply afford to nurture under-performing and inefficient entities. Many businesses are pulling in tight, cutting down, and trying to weather out the storm. Will Goodfoot do the same?
